GENIALLY

MINI PROJECT WITH GENIALLY I  am going to carry out this activity with the students of 6th grade of Primary Education. The reason for this is that they are the ones who are best able to use digital tools. Also because I want them to learn about different tools for Secondary Education. In order to carry out this project, I first showed them a plan of the different steps they have to follow to do this project. I have used the Canva application to make the following scheme: This project will be carried out over four sessions. In the first session, the text 'Students take over the school' from the Anaya textbook will be read. In the second session, students will think of ten ways to improve their school and write them down in a draft. In the third session they will transfer these ten ways into a digital format using Genially. Finally, in the fourth session, students will give the oral presentation in class. The groups will be of three people and will be chosen by the students. I ha...

FROGGY GETS DRESSED (INTERACTION ACTIVITY)

Imagen
FROGGY GETS DRESSED (INTERACTION ACTIVITY) I loved the activity proposed by Lucía about Timetoast. Here is the link of her activity . I believe that she has organised the sequence of activities with the students very well, I consider it to be a motivating activity and that, in addition, it introduces reading comprehension. The activity I propose to use Timetoast is similar. I am going to use this digital tool to create a timeline of a book. The book is called 'Froggy gets dressed'. This book is all about weather and the vocabulary of clothes. The sequence I am going to follow is as follows: Reviewing the vocabulary of clothes and weather that has been previously worked on in class with different games, such as for example, scattered telephone, the hidden word, butterfly catcher... in this way we start by motivating the students at the beginning of the class. We introduce the main character, in this case Froggy. We can continue working on vocabulary and grammar but now introduc...

PIXTON

Imagen
PIXTON ACTIVITY To carry out this activity, I have separated the class into groups of three.  As the topic we are working on is travelling, I took the opportunity to include English culture. First of all, we brainstormed about what we know about the UK. Then, I introduced them to the comic that I had made and showed them a short tutorial on how to use the Pixton application. Afterwards, they started to work in groups to search for information by themes, such as food, weather, traditions ..... When they had found the information they wanted to include in the comic, they wrote the sentences in a draft. When all the groups had written the information, they exchanged roles to correct the mistakes. When all the mistakes have been corrected, they organised and planned the creation of the comic. Then, they created the comic including the information and sent me a screenshot. Finally, they have been projected the work done to show it to the rest of the students. The objectives of this acti...

TIMETOAST

This Sunday is St. Patrick's Day. With the 6th grade students I have prepared an activity related to this day. The learning objectives of this activity are: To get to know the foreign culture through the knowledge of the celebration of St. Patrick's Day. To understand written texts related to St. Patrick's Day according to their level. Work in pairs to create a product. Create a timeline of St. Patrick's life with the TImetoast application. The texts that I have used with my students are included in the following link . There are many advantages to using Timetoast with my students. Among them, the motivation of the students to use digital tools. Also to develop the digital competence of the students. Sequencing real events in a timeline, i.e. transferring information from a text to a timeline. Create a very visual product which helps students to acquire information in a simpler way. The steps I have followed to carry out this activity are: Brainstorming about what they ...

EDPUZZLE

Good morning everyone! This Sunday is 17th March and it's St. Patrick's Day. It is a very important day that is celebrated in some English speaking countries. For this reason, from the English area I think it is important to work on this day so that the students get to know the Irish culture in this case. The main objectives I want to achieve with this activity are: To get to know the foreign culture in a fun way. To understand oral texts related to foreign culture. To promote oral communication in group work. To develop digital competence at home. To carry out this activity, we will use the Edpuzzle tool. Also, to ensure the success of the activity, it will be divided into three parts: Pre-task: In class, we will work on the vocabulary related to this day through games, for example bingo, guess the word, find the word, hidden words... The words we will work on will be the following: gold, shamrock, clover, luck, rainbow, leprechaun, green, Ireland, parade... In this way we ...

Reflect of Reading habits

As you can see from the different images, there are many ways to read a book. I switched from books to e-books years ago. Although from time to time I do pick up a book to read.  I have been reading books since I was very young. At home, my parents and at school forced us to read books that I didn't find interesting, so I disliked reading. My love of reading started when I read a book I had chosen and I was hooked.  Looking at the pictures I can see different feelings. I believe that some people read because they are forced to, like the pictures in the library to study or the students at school. On the other hand, I see that some people read for pleasure, especially the man who is shown reading on a break from work. When you really like reading and a book hooks you, you try to read it at any time, even on train journeys, as we can see in another image. As for my reading habits related to L1 and L2, they are very different. I see myself reflected with the woman reading on the t...
