GENIALLY
MINI PROJECT WITH GENIALLY
I am going to carry out this activity with the students of 6th grade of Primary Education. The reason for this is that they are the ones who are best able to use digital tools. Also because I want them to learn about different tools for Secondary Education. In order to carry out this project, I first showed them a plan of the different steps they have to follow to do this project. I have used the Canva application to make the following scheme:
This project will be carried out over four sessions. In the first session, the text 'Students take over the school' from the Anaya textbook will be read. In the second session, students will think of ten ways to improve their school and write them down in a draft. In the third session they will transfer these ten ways into a digital format using Genially. Finally, in the fourth session, students will give the oral presentation in class. The groups will be of three people and will be chosen by the students. I have made sure that the groups are balanced.
I found the use of this tool very useful. The students did not know this tool and they quickly created the projects as it is very easy to use. It also offers a wide variety of models that can be used by changing the titles and images. It also gives the option to present the information in various ways. My students have mainly used the infographics and presentations.
If I could make any changes to the implementation of this project it would be to add a little more time as it was the first time the students were using this application and some were a bit overwhelmed. However, everyone was able to complete the project on time.
Here is a link to two of the projects that students have presented to me:
In addition, here is a short audio that I made during the presentation of my students:

Good morning Inés!
ResponderEliminarI thoroughly enjoyed exploring your blog and learning about the innovative ways you integrate technology into language teaching. Your use of Genially for mini projects, such as the one with 6th-grade students, showcases a structured approach to incorporating digital tools into the curriculum. The step-by-step plan you provided demonstrates clear guidance for students and promotes collaboration, making learning engaging and effective.
Similarly, your adaptation of Timetoast for sequencing events in books, as seen in the Froggy Gets Dressed activity, is commendable. This interactive approach not only reinforces vocabulary and grammar but also encourages active participation and comprehension among students. Integrating various language skills seamlessly into such activities enhances language learning outcomes significantly.
Furthermore, the Pixton activity on English culture and travel demonstrates your creativity in using comics to explore diverse topics. By allowing students to research, collaborate, and create comics, you foster critical thinking and digital literacy skills effectively. Your structured approach to organizing group work and providing tutorials ensures students' success and engagement throughout the activity.
Overall, your blog reflects your commitment to creating dynamic and interactive learning experiences for your students. Your thoughtful integration of digital tools not only enhances language learning but also promotes collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking skills. Keep up the fantastic work!
Best regards,
Elena
Hi Inés,
ResponderEliminarI think you enjoy your work and trying new technologies in the classroom too. The navigation through your blog is good.
I like your Genially “Ten ways to improve your own school” as it motivates the students proposing a very close topic to their every day life and environment, it has to do with their own reality. The result was that the students were really engaged with the topic and at the end they made very interesting proposals to improve their own school. Have you considerd the possibility of implementing some of them at school? Would it be technically possible?
The result of your students´ Time Line seemed a bit poor to me although the process is important too. Regarding your idea of using Time Line in the future for telling or summarizing the story of the book “Foggy gets dressed”, which you now well, seems an excellent idea to me as it is linked to a great extensive reading activity and because most of the time we just think of using Time Line for just summarizing biographies or ordering facts in the time line. So it widens the most common use of Time Line. I will try something similar with an appropriate book for it.
Congratulations for your blog as it seems to me you integrate very well digital tools in your classroom!
